The Ryan Lavagnino Race commenced under harsh conditions on Friday. The day was marked by a biting cold and strong winds, with snow falling throughout the race. Despite the formidable weather, our athletes showcased their tenacity and skill.

Day 1 (Friday Feb 7) – Challenging Conditions

Racers faced cold temperatures, strong winds, and snowfall, making for a tough start.

  • U14 Girls: Emma Shawkey secured 3rd place, while Kenan Dragomanovich finished 5th.
  • U14 Boys: Brendan Fry delivered a strong performance, finishing 2nd.
  • U16 Girls: Sonja Arneborn took 2nd place, followed by Valerie Moore in 4th and Annalise in 5th.
  • U16 Boys: Unfortunately, it was a difficult day for the U16 boys, as they were unable to finish their races.
Day 2 (Saturday Feb 8) – A Fresh Start

With a full range of U10-U16 racers competing, Saturday brought new opportunities.

  • U10 Girls: Melanie dominated with a 1st-place finish, while Gianna Presto and Jocelyn placed 4th and 5th, respectively.
  • U10 Boys: Tommy Miles secured a podium spot in 3rd place.
  • U12 Girls: Sienna Notte impressed with a 1st-place finish.
  • U14 Girls: Emma Shawkey improved on her Friday result, finishing 2nd.
  • U14 Boys: Brian Fry took 1st place, while Joey Trapasso finished 3rd.
  • U16 Girls: Sonja Arneborn finished 3rd, and Valerie Moore took 5th.
  • U16 Boys: Nathan Petersen and Max Balco secured 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.

Day 3 (Sunday Feb 9)-U10/U12s Wrap it up

Strong finish for U10/U12 Girls taking 5 of 6 podium places

  •   U10 Girls: Jocelyn Kurey took 1st with Melanie Reichert in 2nd and Giana Presto, 3rd
  • U10 Boys: Aiden Frye taking 3rd and Kayden Keltner coming in 4th
  • U12 Girls: Sienna Notte repeating 1st with Irina Stoilov taking 2nd and Kacey Reed taking 4th

Awards and Recognition

  • Sienna Notte and Sebastian Arneborn were honored with the Little E Award for Sportsmanship.
  • Brian Fry was recognized as the fastest U14 boy for the weekend.
