China Peak hosted U12-U16 Kellner SuperG Races last Friday through Monday. Bear Valley’s Race Team put on a strong performance at the 4 day event. Beginning on Friday Feb 21, The U14-U16 boys swept podium with the 6 fastest times of the race. Nathan Peterson posted the fastest time and took first place in U16 with Max Balco placing second. Joey Trapasso took first place in U14 followed by Brendan Fry. In U18, Sebastian Barrios placed first and Crimson Eclarino coming in second. For the Ladies, Lois Miles placed 3rd in u16. For U14, Emma Shawkey was on the podium in 3rd place and Kenan Dragomanovich in 4th.
On Saturday in U14, Emma Shawkey improved to take second place with Kenan again in 4th but just a tenth of a second off the podium. In U16, Lois Miles again nailed down 3rd place. Annelise Howell, Sonja Arneborn and Valerie Moore took 5th, 6th and 7th respectively. For the Men, Crimson Eclarino place first and Sebastian Barrios second in U18. Joey Trapasso again placed first in U14 with Brendan Fry coming in second. In U16, Nathan Peterson took 3rd.
The U12 racers swung into action on Sunday Feb 23. Our 4 U12 competitors included Sienna Notte and Maggie Roberts for the Ladies and Owen Taylor and Sebastian Arneborn for the Men.
Sunday saw Sienna Notte take first place in U12 Ladies. On Monday, Sienna Notte rocketed into 1st place, besting not only the Ladies field by 4 seconds but eclipsed the Men field by 2 sconds. Owen Taylor and Sebastian Arneborn competed with the Men and finished mid-pack with solid performances
Congratulations to Coach Nick Shawkey on his Technical Delegate (TD) official role for the U12 races on Sunday and Monday. Since Nick was the only BV coach on Sunday and Monday at China Peak, BV’s U14 Ladies stepped in to support and assist coaching their younger team mates.They did a great job.
